The
Coast
Guard Auxiliary is a civilian, uniformed, all-volunteer
component of the U.S. Coast Guard. Auxiliarists perform
virtually all missions of the Active Coast Guard except for
direct law enforcement and the use of arms. The Auxiliary is a
force multiplier to augment active missions besides performing
the traditional role in promoting Recreational Boater Safety.
The Auxiliary's basic unit is the flotilla. Our
flotilla, Flotilla 42, serves Port Angeles and Sequim,
Washington. Our communities are located on the shores of the
Strait of Juan de Fuca, a body of salt water that separates the
Olympic Peninsula from Vancouver Island, British Columbia in
Canada.
